Again wishing there were a clean way to split off a separate thread. Anyway, question - do you experience this alternate life in the form of apparent memories, dreams/visions, or some sort of bilocation?
More in urges and sensations. I use narrative to try to give it meaning and coherency, but my narrative is still in a… reevaluative stage currently. I do not believe in souls or afterlife or reincarnation, but, describing my draconity as an alternate life is what makes the most sense to how it feels to me. Or maybe just a bit of hopeful fantasizing. (Insert standard otherkin “yeah I’m probably just crazy” disclaimer here.)

While it made it into Lupa’s Field Guide to Otherkin and has been used by some members of the otherkin and therian communities to describe themselves, the term was not coined to describe otherkin or therian experiences. It was coined by a researcher studying FURRIES and specifically trying to draw parallels between the furry experience and the transgender experience:

Are you referring to an older reference in the paper? Because I seem to recall “species dysphoria” being used by furries and otherkin well before 2007.
